About the Peace Camp

Everything you wanted to know about how the camp will work

We will begin to set up camp on August 5. There will be larger tents for events and smaller ones for various purposes such as for handicrafts, medical treatment, washing and sleeping (for women, men and mixed), for those who don't have their own tent. There will also space for caravans/mobile homes, see below.

Food and drink will be provided by Rampenplan cooking collective from The Netherlands, who have supported large camps and actions over many years, providing tasty vegetarian and vegan food from regional sources. For the other "end" of the digestive system we will provide toilets (without water or chemicals). More about these at the camp.

Sharing work at the camp
Sharing work at the camp

Gemeinschaftsprojekt Friedenscamp

The camp and the whole action are a shared project. Of course, much has been organised beforehand and it is therefore unavoidable that certain rules will have been set. Even so, we want to shape our common living space without discrimination or hierarchy in the same way we want to shape the "better world" we seek. For this reason we will hold a daily plenary where all decisions will be made democratically by all attending. How that works - even in large groups - will be explained in workshops at the camp. There will also be training in non-violent direct action, information on possible legal consequences of civil disobedience and, of course, information on the subject of nuclear weapons and their context.

We also want to share the work that arises every day, such as cutting vegetables, washing-up, making signs and banners, etc. as well as sharing the costs. We will calculate a suggested voluntary contribution but noone will monitor its payment. Everyone will be allowed to take part, whether they can pay or not and if others pay a bit more for those without money, then it will even up in the end.

All of this takes a lot of effort but is also a lot of fun if everyone gives a hand. Anyone that has time and wants to can already is very welcome to begin helping us from August 5 on. If you do, it would help us in our planning if you can tell us before - mail Silvia Bopp at silvia.bopp(at)pressehuette.de.

This year's camp will be closer to the action (see Plan), which means that the distances to the main gate and gates 1 to 3 are much shorter. However, if the distance is still too great to walk then you can use one of our rickshaw taxis.

Caravans and mobile homes

The road leading to the camping site is a tarmac foot/cycle path that as few vehicles as possible should use. For this reason we ask that people bringing caravans or mobile homes should drive onto the campsite and stay there. Those of you wishing to remain mobile should park on the car park which is not far away.
